As part of a joint venture team, MDO won a competition to design and develop the 10-acre mixed-use St. Michael’s Estate. Arranged around a lively circulation spine linking the town centre with the LUAS station, the scheme will deliver retail, community spaces, and a mixture of private and social housing.

 

The vision for the development centered on establishing and reinforcing connections with the existing community, placing key shared facilities at the heart of the neighbourhood. Informal private courtyards and urban public plazas are interlaced throughout the scheme, combining to create a strong community identity.

The scheme blends old and new by celebrating historic urban connections in a forward-thinking, contemporary way. New connections are formed with the existing context, while current routes and paths are reinforced to embed the scheme in its environment
