Behind the scenes, 24/7 onsite medical and nursing care supports this safe, healing environment. Over the past three decades, more than 125,000 campers have experienced Barretstown’s unique blend of fun, hope, and healing through its life-changing therapeutic model.

At MDO Architects, we were deeply honoured to attend the official opening of the new Med Shed, hosted by U2’s legendary guitarist, The Edge. Our partnership with Barretstown has allowed us to contribute to its inspiring mission, and we’re especially proud of two projects close to our hearts:

Elizabeth’s Tree House – A vibrant yet functional restaurant, serving as the heartbeat of the campus. It seamlessly integrates into the wooded landscape, quickly establishing itself a central welcoming hub where everyone gathers, connects, and find joy.

Barretstown Lodge – A welcoming, versatile space, accommodating some of the 2,500+ dedicated volunteers needed each year to power Barretstown’s magic. It’s a home away from home, embodying the spirit of generosity and care that makes Barretstown so special.

Both projects reflect Barretstown’s ethos—combining thoughtful design with practical function to enhance the therapeutic experience for every camper, family member, and volunteer.

Congratulations to Barretstown on 30 remarkable years of changing lives! Here’s to many more decades of making a difference.
