Carton House Hotel - Conference & Function Suites
McCauley Daye O’Connell Architects have recently completed and handed-over the first stage of refurbishment works to Carton House. This phase of works involved the refurbishment of the 300 seat ballroom and its associated pre-function and bar area. The first floor Kildare Suite meeting rooms and the Leinster boardroom were also included in a fast track programme of three weeks on site.
The rich colour palette for the walls and floors takes inspiration from the historic blue and gold Chinese Boudoir in Carton House. An integral part of the design is the custom designed carpet inspired by floral motifs found on the 18th Century blue and white Delft tiles in the Ornamental Dairy at Carton. The flowers, in a rich palette of ochre, rust, gold and moss green, are overlaid onto a textured background of watery blues referencing the river Rye running through the estate.
New artwork from Cliodhna Doyle and Jean Bardon paired with antique refectory tables and porcelain lamps to complete the decorative elements. New high-output, low energy light fittings were added to make all the function and meeting rooms more suitable for conferencing. Customer feedback through the hotel has been overwhelmingly positive.
