The Marker Hotel
Once described by the Sunday Times as a building that ‘will bring the champagne fizz back into architecture in Dublin’, Manuel Mateus’ luxury 5-star, 180-room hotel development, which includes 84 exclusive apartments, it will play a vital role in the dynamic new Grand Canal Square redevelopment.
Located adjacent to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, The Marker Hotel is being developed in collaboration with McCauley Daye O’Connell, as the Executive Architects who have been tasked with realising the unique design and translating it into a commercial hotel design suitable for the Irish context and climate.
The key challenge has been to achieve the required heavily sculpted, cantilevered dolmen aesthetic with the cutting-edge lightweight façade system necessary to alleviate structural difficulties. The design concept, which references the primordial architecture of Ireland, is best appreciated in the cavernous ground floor lobby areas.
